Wedding Season is Back in Full Swing for 2021: Insights from the Top Wedding Caterers in Delhi
After a year and a half of gloom and doom, the wedding industry is all set to be back with a bang, right in time for the busy winter wedding season. From wedding organisers and wedding catering in Delhi to bandwallahs, everyone is hopeful of a full wedding season as we wrap up 2021.
The wedding industry suffered one of the biggest economic blows as the pandemic hit. With social distancing, lockdowns and cap on attendees, brides and grooms could no longer have a big, fat wedding of their dreams. With travel restrictions in place, destination weddings were also out of the picture. From 500+ wedding ceremonies, brides and grooms had to limit their wedding guest list to just a handful of family members. Wedding ceremonies became intimate and were held mostly at homes during the last year.
Thankfully, we've can see the light at the end of the tunnel. With the auspicious wedding season underway, wedding organisers and wedding caterers in Delhi estimate that around 1 lakh couples will tie the knot before the end of the year.

The Wedding Season is Back in Josh in Delhi & NCR
For the first-time since the pandemic, wedding halls are fully booked and wedding caterers in Delhi and NCR have taken bookings to the same level as before 2020. Wedding industry insiders state that several couples who had to postpone their weddings due to the pandemic are tying the knot as lockdown restrictions are relaxed all over the country. This is a welcoming trend as it signals normalcy, after a gloomy two years.
Another reason is that the pandemic is still not over and with new variants like the recent Omicron, couples no longer want to put off their wedding. With uncertainty over future lockdowns, they want to capitalise the moment, tie the knot and begin their life with their sweethearts. Many couples who had put off their wedding due to the second wave are now ready to get hitched during this wedding season. Hence, the large number of wedding halls and catering bookings in Delhi and NCR this winter.
It's not just catering, but wedding bands are also back. The previous year, due to Covid-19 restrictions and limitations on the number of guests, people didn’t want to spend on large bands for small weddings. With large weddings back, couples now want to go all the way and that includes bandwallahs as well.

A Positive and Hopeful Wedding Season for 2021
Traditionally, in the Hindu calendar, the wedding season begins on the 11th day after Diwali. This year, it started from 15th November and goes on for the next two months. For the first time, since the pandemic wedding muhurats and receptions are back with full josh and hope. With that said, we highly recommend couples and families to keep themselves updated with the latest guidelines for weddings in Delhi and NCR.
Here are a few guidelines for weddings in Delhi and NCR:
- The DDMA (Delhi Disaster Management Authority) increased the limit for wedding guests from 100 to 200 at the end of October.
- The same applies to the Gurgaon urban area as well. There is a cap of 100 guests at closed indoor spaces and 200 guests in open avenues. This limit is applicable for all social events including weddings.
- At Noida, there is a limit of 100 guests for both indoor and outdoor venues.
Other Covid-19 precautionary protocols are to be followed at all three cities. This includes thermal screenings at entrances, socially distanced seating, wearing mask indoors, sanitisation and more.
